The Pause For Purpose Award 2026

Catherine and Alida had the absolute honor of presenting the inaugural Pause for Purpose Award at the BBB of Eastern NC’s awards ceremony —and we are still riding the high.

When we created this award, we wanted to recognize something that doesn’t always get celebrated: the woman who slows down on purpose, who chooses to reflect, reset, and rebuild, even when the world is telling her to just push through. That takes courage.

Our winner, Dr. Armelle Malcomb of AI&GB Consulting, is exactly that woman. Over 20 years of engineering experience, a Ph.D., global partnerships from North Carolina to West Africa, and a philosophy she calls the “Calculated Pause” — she is building projects and building a legacy for the next generation of women in STEM. She received the award and a $1,000 business grant, and she has earned every bit of it.

We also want to celebrate our runners-up: First-Aid Counseling, Greaves Construction, and What Girls Know Best — women doing the work, every single day.

And a massive thank you to the entire team at the BBB of Eastern NC for creating a space where this kind of recognition is possible. You gave us a stage to honor women who deserve to be seen, and that means everything.
